Stunningly designed by Sri Lanka’s most distinguished architect (Geoffrey Bawa) with a truly spectacular view over one of the most scenic bays in the island. Claughton also combines total privacy with luxurious seclusion and is set in 5 acres of landscaped gardens. Highly recommended. Accommodation
The Master Suite is the grandest room with a king-size bed and direct views towards the Indian Ocean. The en-suite bathrooms offer indoor hot baths or outdoor showers.
Suite 1 faces out to sea and has twin beds and an en-suite bathroom. To the rear of the room, a granite verandah leads to an outdoor shower area in open courtyard with potted palms and gravel floors.
Suite 2 is located at the front of the villa and offers a further 2 simple beds. Garden view with attractive indoor washroom and outdoor shower courtyards.
Facilities
Split-level open plan dining and living area which opens out to the sea. Choice of Sri Lankan or Western meals prepared to taste by resident cook. The gardens lead to a swimming pool built into an overhanging rock giving further views over the Indian Ocean. A path leads to a totally secluded beach that continues across the wide sweep of the entire bay. Standards are high at Claughton and should you desire a change, request a BBQ down at the pool.
Claughton is an ideal base for visiting the Wildlife Parks and sanctuaries of the South East. Yala, Bundala and Uda Walawe National Parks are easily accessed from here.
