Itinerary
Day 1: NEGOMBO
Meet, Greet and you will be transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Rest of the afternoon at leisure to relax and venture out to try Negombo’s numerous dining options.
Day 2: NEGOMBO > ANAMADUWA
After breakfast drive to Anamaduwa the North West of the country where you will be accommodated for 2 nights. Check in at the Mudhouse a unique and rustic chalet in a rural area. Rest of the day at leisure or free to explore the surrounding of the property with a boat ride and a bicycle ride.
Day 3: ACTIVITIES AT THE MUD HOUSE
Wake to the sound of morning birds and have breakfast by the lake before taking on a cycle trip to the nearby village paddy field and get the first-hand experience on how the natives do paddy farming. Lunch at the mudhouse and go on a nature trail with Catamaran ride in Tabbowa Lake or take a dip in the fresh water lake.
In the evening Visit an ancient village Temple and watch the sunset at the summit of the rock where the temple is located
Day 4: ANAMADUWA > SIGIRIYA
After breakfast proceed to Sigiirya, en-route you can briefly explore the parts of 1st century capital of Sri Lanka. Check in at your retreat in Sigiriya before taking the hiking trip to Pidurangala also known as half-brother of Sigirya Rock Fortress.
Pidurangala is a towering rock near Sigiriya which is home to an ancient cave temple. It is a challenging climb but the views from the top are glorious. Return back to your retreat and rest of the day at leisure or explore the surroundings of your retreat.
Day 5: SIGIIRYA ROCK & LOCAL VILLAGE TOUR > KNUCKLES
After an early breakfast head to the Sigirya and climb this amazing rock fortress, the ancient rock fortress and palace of Sigiriya is one of the seven World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka. The fortress was used as a rock shelter mountain monastery, with caves prepared and donated by devotees to the Buddhist Sangha.
Afternoon drive through the rural villages to reach the Knuckles mountain range, Named after its uncanny likeness to human knuckles, the Knuckles Mountain Range is a gorgeous UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular spot for hikers. The dense forest, surrounded by 34 mystical mountains that range from 900 to 2,000 metres, is home to stunning hiking trails.
Day 6: KNUCKLES MOUNTAIN RANGE
Although hiking is the biggest lure in Knuckles, the conservation site has plenty of other noteworthy attractions to visit. Meemure is a lazy rural village deep inside the forests. With beautiful streams and waterfalls, it offers mesmerising views and photograph-worthy vistas. It is a little-known attraction, even among locals, so it’s easy to have an experience minus the selfie sticks and loud tourists. Mingle with the villagers, who are more than happy to converse, and discover Sri Lanka’s much-famed hospitality.
Day 7: KNUCKLES > GAL OYA
Today you will be driven towards the east of the island. Gal Oya Lodge is a stunning, quasi-African-style safari lodge set in Sri Lanka’s beautifully untouched Gal Oya National Park,
Away from the more trodden routes, the park is a hot-bed of the country’s eclectic wildlife and at certain times of year there can be herds of up to 40 elephant. Its bird-life is the envy of any other park on the island and leopard, though perhaps more easily spotted in the crowded parks, are sometimes seen.
Day 8: ACTIVITIES AT GAL OYA
Gal Oya rightly prides itself on the passion and expertise of its guides. It has a team of 5 trained naturalists ready to take you on anything from short bird-spotting walks to all day safaris. Farther off the beaten tourist track, Gal Oya is one of the best preserved and least visited of all of Sri Lanka’s national parks, rich in biodiversity and aquatic life on the lake. One of the aspects that make Gal Oya National Park truly special is that it is the only place where you can take a boat safari in Sri Lanka and, if you are lucky, see the Asian elephant swimming in its natural habitat.
Day’s 9 & 10: GAL OYA > YALA
After breakfast you will be taken to the deep south of Sri Lanka where you have two nights of wildlife experience. With pack breakfast an exclusive private jeep safari will be arranged at Yala National Park with an expert wildlife trekker. Yala National Park home to the world’s densest leopard populations. On this safari you will witness spotting leopards and countless other animals including sloth bear, deer, wild boar, crocodiles and numerous species of birds.
On completion return back to the hotel, freshen up and continue the journey on the southern picture postcard coastal road to Galle. En-route you will be stopped in many beautiful places to explore and experience some of Sri Lanka’s famous attractions such as “stilt fisherman” and “baby turtle farm”. Check in at your hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
Day’s 11, 12 & 13: WELIGAMA
After breakfast continue the journey on the southern picture postcard coastal road to Weligama. En-route you will be stopped in many beautiful places to explore and experience some of Sri Lanka’s famous attractions such as “stilt fisherman” and “baby turtle farm”. Check in at your hotel and rest of the day at leisure.
We have included 3 nights stay to complete your trip in Sri Lanka with plenty of opportunities to explore in and around Weligama. You can decide on the number of nights you want stay depending on your desire we can do the needful.
Day 14: DEPARTURE
Today you will be dropped at the airport for your return journey
