Thekkady is a town near Periyar National Park, an important tourist attraction in the Kerala state of India and Home to the country’s largest Tiger Reserve- Periyar, Thekkady is a great way to enjoy a jungle vacation.
Thekkady is considered a haven for natural spices such as black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, nutmeg, ginger, and clove. The Periyar forests of Thekkady are one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. Spreads across the entire district are the picturesque plantations and hill towns that nestle beautiful trails for treks and mountain walks. It is one of the oldest tiger reserves in the country and the forests of Periyar are embellished by the presence of endangered species including White Tigers.
A trip to Spice Villages, Thekkady is the centre of the spice growing area of Kerala, and the aromas of spices are everywhere. Numerous Spice Plantation Villages have guided tours to identify various spice plants and even cookery demos using spices. At Kumily Market there is a huge cardamom auction and shops selling different types of spices
